Dark Angel hails from Reading and is part of the Inna?State crew up there, who've built up a reputation for putting on one of the best parties in the area. He has also played at some Insanity parties in London and will be playing more in London in the near future.

This mix is pure Psychedelic Trance and seamlessly puts together acts like Space Tribe, Chakra, X-Dream, Psychaos and Juno Reactor, to name but a few. The stage is set right from the start, with the sample "We're going to attempt time travel", and this is exactly what he begins to do!

The style throughout the tape is crisp, clean Trance, impeccably mixed. Listening to it, it's quite easy to picture a packed main room at Tyssen Street with the visuals in full effect. It succeeds in what Psy Trance should achieve - a conciousness-raising, energy raising, foot stomping journey into.....wherever you want to let it take you!

Eastern vocal samples combine with electronic acid swirls and driving basslines. Jim Morrison even puts in an appearance with the immortal "Out here, we is stoned" line (from "Stoned Immaculate"). Dark Angels's love for the music he plays is clearly evident throughout the tape, and it feels like listening to a skilled craftsman.

Sometimes, psychedelic trance can get a little (dare I say it ?) boring, with too much squelchy noises and not enough bass. Not here, I can find absolutely no fault with it. What I will be doing is tracking Dark Angel down the next time he plays, as I think live this will come accross even better.

The neon green & red coloured tapes are a nice touch too!
